It ain't no lie BABY! Thats right! ABC is getting ready for a 2 hour LIVE FINALE of their new music series "Greatest Hits"! Yep, Mowtown Philly's back again! Boys II Men is just one of many performers who have been taking us back to the 80's, 90's, & early 2000's! It's time to kick off those Sunday shoes and get ready for special episodes each containing a 5 year period of greatest hits performed by both old and new artists! Wonderful tributes to legendary musicians as well as unique performances from today's greatest artists is what makes this show a bundle of delight! I'm a 90's kid, so all of those classics from the 95-2005 era are too much to handle! It's not only nostalgic listening to songs from groups like Destiny's Child and the Backstreet Boys, but also watching them be performed and having the opportunity to see those famous dance routines is absolutely spectacular! Mario and more current singing star, Zendaya, recently took us back to 2004 with a performance of Mario's "Let Me Love You". It was definitely a crowd favorite! My focus was on enjoying both old an new performers come together to bring greatest hits to life again! Fifth Harmony performed songs by Destiny's Child and hit those melodies and harmonies perfectly! On point! They were true survivors who weren't gonna give up! You can never go overboard with too many lyrical references, RIGHT?... I also found it interesting comparing the styles of girl groups of this period to those of the 90's/2000's. We don't really see many boy bands anymore. I guess we never really know what DIRECTION music will take us... Rick Springfield performed the everlastingly popular "Jessie's Girl"! While Jason Derulo gave a heartwarming tribute to the King of Pop, singing "Human Nature". His moonwalk was perfection and his dance additions in between choruses was unbelievably brilliant! In my sophomore year of college, I took a course called Music Appreciation. We basically discussed the evolution of music and learned about the basic technical theory as well. I bring this up, because as we entered the age of rap, my professor chose to play us one of Coolio's rap songs "1 2 3 4", which was surprisingly an upbeat jazzy tune! The song was to help us learn beats versus rhythms, of course. Can you count the beats? I'll give you a hint: "1 2 3 4". Reading rhythms is sometimes tricky to do! Coolio gave a performance with Cee Lo Green taking us back to 1995 with "Gangsta Paradise". I wonder what it would be like 20 years from now listening to songs from the 2010's & 2020's? I can't even imagine! What a great flashback for 80's-2005 music fans! Thank you ABC for bringing this outstanding idea! BYE BYE BYE! Love Always, Mia.
