Hi guys! I thought I'd share with you a little bit about Athens, Greece! I was very fortunate to visit Athens & the ancient ruins this summer. Let me start off by saying that Athens is a very crowded city with energetic & welcoming people. In such a big city, you can expect to see a variety of hotels and apartment buildings. Walking through the narrow streets, you are surrounded by restaurants and small shops. Not you're usual city with a park & high end promenade. However, the restaurants are wonderful & walking up to see the Acropolis is an amazing site!
Athens might be an old city, however hotels & restaurants are modern. You'll also notice that there are several Orthodox churches. I visited the very unique Metropolitan Cathedral of Athens. It is made of marble and is dedicated in honor of the Annunciation of the Mother of God. Beautiful indeed! Walking on foot in Athens can be very hilly. Definitely bring good walking shoes. It is very hot and humid as well, so I suggest purchasing a huge water bottle, which is not unusual in Europe, to carry around with you. Trust me, it won't last long and you will be looking to refill it! Athens is an ancient treasure where the people are glad to have you visit and taste their culture! A few days is enough to visit the city & the beaches. It is a perfect destination if traveling to the islands, or around Europe. Love Always, Mia.
