Hi guys! It's the place where Nikola Tesla electrified the world with the creation of the first hydro-eclectic power plant. It's the historical Niagara Falls! Pretty impressive aye?
Near the American falls is the famous Clifton Hill. This hill is home to several attractions for your amusement. Perfect for small children, the hill features The Great Canadian Midway, Dinosaur Adventure Golf, Marine Land, and much more! For film lovers, Movieland is the perfect experience. Clifton Hill is what I call a mini Hollywood Boulevard. However, there are a few attractions and restaurants that I always go back for! The Niagara Fun Wheel is a grand ferris wheel for a perfect view! Stay for evening fireworks and your night will be delightful! Summer fireworks are scheduled for Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday nights. The popular Rainforest Cafe is also on my list! They have an excellent menu and inside attractions that allow you to journey through the rainforest to your table. It's definitely a unique experience! You can't leave Clifton Hill without visiting the Fudge Factory! It's a must-see candy shop located on the lower end of the hill. With carnival fun-house and spooky haunted-house music playing outside the shop and an endless display of sweets, the Fudge Factory is like being in Willy Wonka's chocolate factory! You'll definitely see into your imagination while visiting Clifton Hill!
Closer to the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, is Skylon Tower. It looks rather similar to the Seattle Space Needle and features a revolving dining room! The most spectacular view of the falls can be seen from Skylon's observation deck. Dine at the restaurant and the night will be a delight! What I find most wonderful about the restaurant menu is not he mouth-watering seafood, but the Ontario Wine selection! A long list of white, red, sparkling, and sweet Ontario wines adds to the experience of being near the Canadian border. Their international list does feature a 2009 Brunello di Montalcino, Toscana, which will always be a favorite of mine. Only for special occasions, of course, considering a bottle is $110. In U.S. fine dining restaurants a common glass sells for around $20. If you're visiting the Skylon deck on a clear day, you will be able to see both the Toronto skyline, as well as the Buffalo skyline! Also toward the Horseshoe falls is the faily new Nikola Tesla Statute! Niagara on the Lake is quite a different experience than visiting the falls area. Surrounded by unique shops and fresh air brings calm feels. An old-town, vintage warmth is sensed while walking the sidewalks of the town. Several eateries range from fine dining and upscale casual to picnic and pub. I have yet to visit one of the many wineries of Niagara. From hat shops to Irish gift shops, Niagara on the Lake shopping is not your usual promenade day out. Enjoy visiting the art gallery, then stepping outside with some refreshing gelato with the site of tree leaves glistening in the sun! Directly on Queen Street is Il Gelato Di Carlotta Latteria, a gelateria where the famous Sophia Loren indulged in their sweet delights! With pistachios from Sicily, mangos from Bombay, and strawberries from Niagara on the Lake, this gelateria is a wonderful gelato experience! There are several unique hotels in the area, however, the Prince of Wales Hotel is located in the perfect location. Drive through the neighborhoods and you will run into the lake! I will forever remember putting my feet in the sand near the lake overlooking the open water. I have visited Niagara Falls almost every year since I was a child. It is always a great experience, since there are many attractions to visit! A delightful wonder between two countries! Many wonderful moments can be shared in this world famous town! Love Always, Mia.
