Water taxi's and gondola's are right in front of you when you arrive at the train station. There's nothing more convenient than that! Be sure to grab a map and choose which square, or "campi" (city squares) you want to visit. The water taxi system is quite easy to follow. Taxi A, or B, etc. in each of the the directions of places you want to see. For easy train booking, you'll want to visit the Italian train website "Trenitalia". Pretty simple name right? There are many options for train stations, so I will make it a little easier for you. If leaving from Florence, choose Firenze S.M. Novella. If going to Venice, choose Venezia S. Lucia and this will bring you directly to the canals! I will add Roma, since that is a major destination: Rome would be Roma Termini.
There is a very romantic feel about being in Venice. Now I know why it is referred to as the "City of Love". Surrounded by candle lit restaurants along the water is a perfect place for a grand evening. Nothing commercial about it. The tranquil atmosphere only adds to the gorgeous sun hitting the water. Venice is a beautiful place of wonder. I would say that it is a unique gem of Italy! Love Always, Mia.
