My "once in a while" coffee adventure to experience new cafés was enlightened on a recent visit to the Farmers Market at The Grove in Los Angeles. I discovered a small, yet delightful granita bar, "Zia Valentina". For those who do not know, a granita is a delicious Sicilian flavored ice drink. Traveling through Italy, my favorite was a grapefruit granita, which definitely cooked me off in the summer. In LA, however, the caffe latte granita is always number one. The Story of Zia Valentina? Two sisters were inspired by their Zia (Aunt) Valentina, to create farm-inspired recipes. If they could bring such Italian-inspired coffee delights to a little Farmers Market stand in Los Angeles, then we could sure create our own coffee delights at home! Here are a few tea & coffee bar essentials for your everyday gourmet boost!

Baking requires technique. For example, a chocolate espresso pot de creme can easily become an uphill disaster. The milk and heavy cream must not over boil, the cream must be poured into the melted chocolate (not the opposite, or you're left with lumps), the chocolate mixture must be tempered into the egg yolks, or the yolks will scramble from the heat, the mixture must be baked in a water bath and covered in foil. Accidentally move the pan too much and the water gets into the mixture. Nothing is worse than a watery pot de creme. Baking is a small percentage of creativity and a large percentage of science. If you're up to the challenge, then dust off you're old math book on fractions and fill your pantry with the following baking essentials! As long as you know how to bake, life is sure to be sweet! Hi guys! Now that it's mid-August, it's time to prepare for the school workload, job workload, or just everyday during the non-summer year. Work mode overload? I think I can help. I'm going to share with you my go-to apps for making things a little easier throughout the year. Vacation's over, so let's fall back to work using these helpful apps!
Splashing into summer was great, but its that time of year again. Time to FALL BACK2SCHOOL! You may have noticed the back to school commercials while waiting for your favorite episode of Black-ish to come back on. That end of July rush into the school year wipes out your summer! So much for relaxing by the pool sipping on my guava orange smoothie all day. It's time to prepare for that first day when your professors go over the syllabus with you making you feel like you have to complete every single project, assignment, & test right then and there! A syllabus calendar can definitely be a bit overwhelming on the first day. KEEP CALM & STAY STRONG is what I used to tell myself when I was in school. As a recent graduate, I no longer have to worry about work overload... only job app overload. However, this didn't stop me from back2school shopping for others. This is my 2016 Target Back2school supplies bundle of delight! I am definitely an experienced back to school shopper. I mean, come on, I've been doing it for 16 years now! I always look for all of the high quality products. At Target it's always good to check their stationary isle as well as their back to school section, because they don't put every type of product in the seasonal back2school section. Quick Tip: If you plan to purchase a variety of post-it brand products, you'll have to look in the post-it section. The back2school section has limited variety. You will also want to stop by the dollar ($1-5) section in the front of the store for other essentials like pencils and small notebooks. Let's get started by breaking down everything seen in my back2school basket!
